MEET KATE
Hi, I’m Kate—founder of The Mind Matters and a qualified counsellor who believes in the power of self-acceptance, personal growth, and having a safe space to talk.
For over 16 years, I worked as a beauty therapist and loved getting to know my clients. Through those conversations, I realised that what truly mattered to me wasn’t just the treatments—it was the connections we built. Over time, my curiosity about people’s experiences and emotions grew, leading me to retrain as a counsellor so I could support others on a deeper level.
Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of working within the NHS, offering counselling to those facing a wide range of challenges. Every journey is unique, and being able to support people through their healing process is something I find incredibly rewarding.
I know that reaching out for support can feel daunting, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, stress, or just feeling a little lost, I’m here to offer a safe, non-judgmental space to talk, heal, and grow—at your own pace.
Life comes with its ups and downs, and I know from personal experience how tough it can be to navigate. But I also believe that understanding why we are the way we are can open the door to self-acceptance and self-compassion.
Therapy isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about figuring things out together. Some days will feel easier than others, and that’s okay. I’ll hold the heavy stuff until you’re ready to carry it.
Whenever you’re ready, I’m here.

WHAT I OFFER:
At The Mind Matters, I provide virtual, one-to-one counselling sessions to help you work through life’s challenges in a safe and supportive space.
Whether you're struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, or past experiences, I’m here to help you navigate your journey at your own pace.
AREAS I CAN SUPPORT WITH:
Life isn’t always easy, and sometimes we need a little extra support to work through challenges. Counselling can offer a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings.
I work with adults (18+) facing:
-
Anxiety, stress & low mood
-
Low self-esteem & confidence issues
-
Grief & loss
-
Relationship struggle
-
Childhood trauma & past experiences
-
OCD, phobias & fears
-
Addiction & substance misuse
-
Unhealthy behavioural patterns
-
Workplace stress & career challenges
-
Abuse (physical, emotional, verbal)

MY APPROACH:
There’s no ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to counselling, and everyone’s journey is different. That’s why I use an integrative approach, which means drawing from different therapy models to suit your needs.
-
Person-Centred Therapy – A supportive, non-judgmental space where you lead the conversation.
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – Practical tools to help you manage thoughts and behaviours that may be holding you back.
-
Psychodynamic Therapy – Exploring past experiences and how they shape your present.
-
Solution-Focused Therapy – Helping you move forward with clarity and confidence.
-
Mindfulness-Based Therapy – Techniques to help you feel more present and in control of your emotions.
The goal isn’t to ‘fix’ you—you’re not broken. Therapy is about understanding yourself, recognising patterns, and developing tools to navigate life with more clarity and confidence.
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SESSIONS:
Starting therapy can feel daunting, but I aim to make the process as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
-
50-minute online sessions via Zoom or Teams—so you can talk from the comfort of your own space.
-
A relaxed, open environment where you can share whatever’s on your mind.
-
Sessions tailored to you—there’s no pressure, no judgment, just support.
-
Tools and insights to help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Some people come to therapy for a short time, while others find ongoing support helpful. You might dip in and out of counselling as needed throughout your life, and that’s completely okay. We’ll go at a pace that feels right for you.
